The MoviePix Kids Digital Video Recorder is a great option as a first kids video camera. At under $50, it is also a good low budget option if you don’t want to spend a lot on a camcorder for a young child.
This isn’t only a video camera, it takes still images too (3.1 mega pixel resolution) and can even be a voice recorder! You can also connect it to your computer and use it as a web cam. The MODE button lets you easily switch between each setting. Exposure and color balance can be altered automatically or manually, depending on your preference. This makes this video recorder suitable for a wide age range. In our opinion, kids as young as 6 years old would be able to use it with little or no adult assistance, yet it looks “grown up” enough to keep teenagers happy.

If you want a kids video camera that won’t break the bank, you can’t go wrong with the MoviePix camcorder. Obviously, you could spend more money and get a model that has a larger display, higher resolution, larger memory and is generally much sleeker and smoother, but do you really want to spend more than $50 on a video camera for a child?
The beauty of this model is that it is so easy to use, a 6 year old will get the hang of it really quickly. The only downside if you are buying it for a child of this age is that it is not as sturdy as some of the other kids camcorders on the market, so if you are worried about how your child is going to treat it, you may need to supervise. But if you are buying it for an older child who knows how to look after it, you should have no worries at all.
It’s worth noting that the memory that comes with this camcorder runs out really fast, so spend a few more dollars on additional memory to solve this problem.
Amazon Customer Review:
I was looking for an inexpensive video camera for a Christmas gift for my six year old son, and found this! The video and picture quality are not high, but my son loves them! I don’t have to worry about him ruining an expensive piece of equipment, so he can just have fun with it. Easy to use, and perfect for kids
